The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, announces that she is leaving X (ex-Twitter), in a tweet where she explains her decision :
“Far from being the revolutionary tool which, initially, allowed access to information for the greatest number of people, Twitter has in recent years become the weapon of mass destruction of our democracies,” she says, citing the “drifts” according to her of the social network: “Manipulation, disinformation, amplification of impulses of hatred, organized harassment, anti-Semitism and proven racism” or even “the daily foreign interference which interferes in the electoral processes”.
“Twitter prevents the debate, the search for truth, the serene and constructive dialogue necessary between human beings. With these thousands of anonymous accounts and these troll farms, what is happening on Twitter is not democratic life but its exact opposite,” says the mayor of Paris, who invites Parisians to join her other social networks: https://linktr.ee/anne_hidalgo.
