Anne Hidalgo frontally attacks Qatar and its “packages of millions” on the Parc des Princes file

To use an expression dear to the football sphere, Anne Hidalgo did not make the trip for nothing this Thursday morning to the RFI studios. Questioned by the radio on the file of the sale of the Stade de France, and by extension on that of the Parc des Princes since the PSG is considering moving to Saint-Denis, the mayor of Paris first of all reaffirmed her position of firmness.

“The Parc des Princes is not for sale, she declared, as she had already done in January. We had put forward the idea but the rules had to be respected. At the end of the process, when the club offered 38 million euros, the word “ridiculous” is the appropriate one. The City of Paris values the stadium at 350 million euros.

Beyond that, the candidate in the last presidential election has apparently reached a point of no return in her irritation with the Qatari owner of PSG. Relations with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, once very good, have deteriorated since the World Cup, for which Hidalgo refused to install giant screens or open a fan zone. They are now freezing with this new folder. On RFI, the city councilor did not mince his words.

“Let’s stop arguing. We are in a state of law. With us, stadiums do not spring up like mushrooms. You do not arrive with your bundles of millions and become the buyer of any property for any condition, ”she said.

The socialist does not believe in the move of PSG. “I don’t think they will leave. It is very complicated to give up a stadium even if the President of the Republic has opened this possibility, she pointed out. We are still very far from the end of the process in which the club has embarked. There may be a bit of bluff or misunderstanding of what our democratic rules are. »
