It could be a lucrative business for them. From prison, Anna “Delvey” Sorokin sells her self-made drawings. She wants to get around $10,000 for it.

Her biggest dream in life was to open an exclusive arts club for well-heeled members in New York City. To make the dream come true, Anna “Delvey” Sorokin needed a lot of money, which she got from various financial institutions by lying to them that she would soon be able to access a multi-million dollar trust fund.

The rest of the story is known. The Russian-German Sorokin cheated banks and hotels out of large sums of money, was charged and ultimately sentenced to prison. However, her dream of a career in art could still be fulfilled in a roundabout way.

According to “Page Six”, Sorokin sells her own drawings from detention pending deportation. Apparently she’s asking around $10,000 per piece. She already has a sales assistant. Chris Martine told the magazine that Sorokin is planning a solo art show. Only VIPs should be invited who can take an exclusive look at Sorokin’s works. Martine managed to bring the right paper for the pictures to prison.

The story interests

The story of Sorokin received renewed attention thanks to the Netflix series “Inventing Anna”. The scammer seems to be in demand like never before. “Often when it comes to artworks, it’s not just about the visual element, it’s also about the story behind it, and that’s what people really buy,” Martine explains to Page Six. “If you look at her sketches, she has real talent. So many people are intrigued by what happened and the attention she’s receiving. It’s a way for her to express her story in a way to bring that is permanent,” he said.

To what extent Sorokin will be able to build her new career is not certain. The 31-year-old should have been deported from the USA long ago. Last week she resisted it so vehemently that her departure was postponed.
