Angoulême comic book festival postponed due to health crisis

If the entertainment world is already suffering the consequences of the outbreak of new cases of Covid-19 in France, this may also be the case for other cultural sectors. The 49th Angoulême international comic book festival, initially scheduled for January 27 to 30, 2022, will therefore be postponed due to the health crisis, its delegate general Franck Bondoux told AFP on Tuesday.

Faced with the rebound in contaminations and after the new restriction measures, including the gauges, announced on Monday, “the idea is not to force fate at all costs to have a degraded event”, he explained, adding that “with this postponement, the festival will have a vital need for exceptional assistance” from the public authorities. Near Libé, Franck Bondoux said he considered postponing this event for three months, for a possible holding at the end of March.

This postponement comes after an already complicated year for the festival. Postponed until the summer, it had finally been canceled, due to the health crisis.
