The Argentine international Angel Di Maria from Paris Saint-Germain has revealed that he almost ended up at FC Barcelona once.
“I was about to go to Barcelona,” the 33-year-old said in an interview with TNT Sports. His compatriot and Albiceleste colleague Lionel Messi played a crucial role: “I would only have gone there to play with him.”

Di Maria was signed to Real Madrid between 2010 and 2014 before joining PSG via Manchester United. He has already confirmed in the past that he would have been interested in a transfer to Barcelona and that negotiations were already taking place in 2017.
The offensive player is therefore proud that he has been able to play at PSG’s side since this season. “It’s the best that could have happened to me. Playing with him is a dream, it’s unique,” said Di Maria.
