Former Ukrainian tennis player Andréï Medvedev, 4th in the world in 1994, is also involved in the defense of his country after the Russian invasion according to an Instagram post by his compatriot Sergiy Stakhovsky.
Engaged in Ukrainian territorial defense, the latter has indeed shared a photo where he poses with his glorious predecessor: “The legend of world tennis remained in kyiv and ready to face the enemy. I am extremely happy to see Medvedev on our side”. If Medvedev appears unarmed at his side and his precise commitment is not specified, he joins the long cohort of Ukrainian sportsmen who have given up everything for their homeland, some having even paid for it with their lives.
