Ukrainian writer Andrei Kurkov explains why he doesn’t want to leave his country, why he thinks Vladimir Putin is overrated and why he’s not a fan of Volodymyr Zelensky.
Interviewed by
Hilmar Klute
The interview took place earlier in the week. The writer sits in his home in western Ukraine, far from the capital Kyiv. Kurkow is an international literary star, at least since his bestseller “Picnic on the Ice”. He speaks several languages, perfect German. A few years ago he had met you as an ironically funny conversation partner. Now Kurkow looks serious and focused into the camera.
