Andreas Winhart leads AfD list in Upper Bavaria – Bavaria

The state parliament list of the AfD in Upper Bavaria is headed by the Rosenheim MP Andreas Winhart. At the line-up in Putzbrunn near Munich at the weekend, he prevailed over his parliamentary colleague Ingo Hahn by just a few votes. Winhart, 39, is the parliamentary director of the AfD and head of the commission for the election program in the state parliament. He belongs to the more moderate current, although in 2018 he was temporarily targeted by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution with comments about “Negroes” coughing up viruses. Hahn does not want to publicly assign himself to any camp, but is clearly seen as a representative in right-wing national “wing” circles.

Upper Bavaria is actually considered the homeland of the more moderate forces in the AfD, but according to the participants, the other camp was also able to mobilize strongly for the two-day member meeting. Winhart told the SZ on Sunday that he expressly supports a strong election campaign with all candidates.

His goal is to make Upper Bavaria the “locomotive” of the AfD in the Free State. The draft for the Bavaria-wide election program under his aegis will soon be presented after intensive work; In 2018 there was internal resentment that the program at the time had been carelessly pasted together.

Before the nomination, it was actually expected that the top Bavarian candidate from 2018, Franz Bergmüller, would run for first place. In the previous week there were quarrels about a member survey of the national association. In it, Bergmüller was indirectly accused of possibly turning his back on the AfD in the future state parliament, and there was talk of mandate theft. Bergmüller spoke of a “smear campaign”. It was discussed for hours in Putzbrunn. The fact that Winhart takes first place is said to have been agreed beforehand. Ingo Hahn ended up in fourth place, Bergmüller was not given a prominent place on the list. Right behind Winhart in second and third place were two new faces in state politics: Oskar Lipp and Markus Walbrunn, young city councilors in Ingolstadt and Munich.
