Former Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer no longer wants to run in the federal election next year. The CSU politician announced this on Sunday at his party’s New Year’s reception in Passau Passauer Neue Presse has reported. The 49-year-old Scheuer has been a member of the Bundestag since 2002, where he represents the Passau constituency.

From 2009 onwards, Scheuer was State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport. After a good four years as CSU General Secretary from December 2013 to March 2018, he finally took over the house as minister and drew a lot of criticism until the change of government in October 2021, among other things due to the failed car toll. Scheuer had already given up the influential post of CSU district chairman in Lower Bavaria last year.
