Andrea Vilter is the new director of the Schauspielhaus Graz – Culture

Bourgeois tragedies have one thing in common: in the end the protagonist is dead. She is poisoned by her lover like Schiller’s Luise or stabbed by her father like Lessing’s Emilia Galotti. In the middle-class tragedy “Düval and Charmille” by Christiane Karoline Schlegel there is also a dead person at the end. The piece was printed in 1778 and has only now appeared on stage, 245 years later: at the Schauspielhaus Graz, the new director Andrea Vilter has given the late premiere of Schlegel’s tragedy, which is shown here under the title “Von ein Frauenzimmer”. , just opened its first season.
