Evans was born in Aurora, Illinois. As a young woman, she took part in a number of beauty pageants and acted on small stages. In the 1970s, famed soap casting director Mary Jo Slater caught the eye of her and cast her in Love, Lies, Passion – Evan’s big break. She played Tina Lord, the beast of the series.

In the early 1980s, Evans left the soap and joined The Shadows as Patty Williams. In 1985, she returned to her signature role of Tina Lord, for which she was Emmy-nominated. But then Evans surprisingly left the series.

She withdrew from public life for almost ten years. Only later did she explain why: a stalker followed her and wrote her bloody death threats. The man was arrested, Evans resumed acting, but the fear “changed me forever,” she said in a 2008 interview.

Most recently, Evans starred in the Amazon Prime series The Bay. She leaves behind her husband and a daughter.
