“And Just Like That…” extended: hit series gets another season

The “Sex and the City” offshoot “And Just Like That…” continues. Two days before the finale of the current second season, the streaming service Max announced the extension of the successful series. “Cosmopolitans are appropriate! ‘And Just Like That…’ returns for Season Three”, says it on the official X channel (formerly Twitter) of the US streaming service.

“And Just Like That…” rushes from success to success

The Sex and the City spin-off originally returned to screens in December 2021 with the premiere edition. Viewers and fans experienced an emotional reunion with iconic characters Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker, 58), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon, 57) and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis, 58). Only Kim Cattrall (67) was missing as fan favorite Samantha Jones. However, the cast member will make a small cameo appearance in the not-yet-aired Season 2 finale. In the current episodes, John Corbett (62) also returned as Carrie’s on-off love Aidan Shaw. Immediately there was a lot of crackling between the two figures.

As part of today’s renewal of the series, streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max) announced that season two is the most-watched sequel by any show on the service.

“We raise our Cosmopolitans for [Showrunner] Michael Patrick King and his amazing team […] and can’t wait for audiences to see where season three will take our favorite New Yorkers,” said Max programming director Sarah Aubrey in a statement available to “Variety”.. Showrunner King (68) is also looking forward to “spending more time in the ‘Sex and the City’ universe” and telling new stories about the popular characters.

“Sex and the City” has delighted fans for a quarter of a century

The series “Sex and the City” originally aired on premium cable channel HBO from 1998 to 2004, and in many ways is still considered a groundbreaking one for storytelling from a predominantly female perspective. The two feature films “Sex and the City – Der Film” and “Sex and the City 2” followed in 2008 and 2010, before the follow-up series “And Just Like That…” started after a break of around eleven years.
