On December 9th, “And Just Like That …” starts exclusively on Sky Ticket. This is what “Sex and the City” fans can expect from the spin-off.

In June 1998 the first episode of “Sex and the City” started on TV and took millions of viewers by storm. The series about New Yorker Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker, 56) and her friends quickly became a cult, with a total of six seasons. With “Sex and the City – The Film” (2008) and “Sex and the City 2” (2010), the success story was also continued in the cinema. More than ten years after the last film, there is now the long-awaited reunion. On December 9th, Carrie and Co. will return to our living room exclusively on Sky Ticket with the spin-off series “And Just Like That …”.

What is “And Just Like That …” about?

The focus of the series is again on Carrie Bradshaw and her friends Charlotte York (Kristin Davis, 56) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon, 55). However, fans have to do without Kim Cattrall (65) aka Samantha Jones. The actress gave the series new edition a rejection.

In ten episodes, the series accompanies the friends in their new phase of life. They are now all over 50 years old, the children are big and life situations have changed. “As in real life, new people come into your life, others leave you. Friendships fade, new friendships begin,” said HBO Max boss Casey Bloys, describing the new episodes. The idea comes from Michael Patrick King (67).

What will happen to Samantha Jones?

One of those faded friendships could hint at Samantha Jones. Many fans already feared that the popular character on the series might have died. According to the Daily Mail But the all-clear: Samantha Jones is said to have moved to London instead. In addition, an insider revealed that she should have fallen out with Carrie. At the end of the series, Carrie allegedly makes her a peace offer. In fact, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker shouldn’t have anything to say to each other in real life either.

Occupation: old friends and new faces

Not only the three main characters will be seen in “And Just Like That …”. Chris Noth (67) returns as Bradshaw’s partner “Mr. Big”, Miranda’s husband Steve Brady (David Eigenberg, 57) and Charlotte’s husband Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler, 60) are back. Likewise, women’s two best friends, Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone, 61) and Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson, 1964-2021). The latter died shortly after filming, but will still be part of the series. Miranda’s son Brady and Charlotte’s daughters Rose and Lily have grown pretty big now and will also play a role on the series.

Some new faces join the cast. The leading roles include Nicole Ari Parker (51) as documentary filmmaker Lisa Todd Wexley, Karen Pittman (35) as law professor Dr. Nya Wallace and “Grey’s Anatomy” star Sara Ramírez (46) as podcaster Che Diaz. In addition, Sarita Choudhury (55) embodies the real estate agent Seema Patel and Isaac Cole Powell (26) embodies the fashion student George.

What’s new on “And Just Like That …”?

The lack of diversity in “Sex and the City” has often been criticized in the past. In “And Just Like That …” it should look different: Four of the new main characters are Women of Color, diversity and the problem of racism should play a central role in the spin-off. Sara Ramírez is also a non-binary person who joins the cast.

The series will also address the corona pandemic, as Sarah Jessica Parker revealed to Vanity Fair: “The pandemic will of course be part of the story.” The series is also said to be about how Covid-19 has changed friendships and relationships.
