She is Anaïs Demoustier, mother of a little boy born from a brief affair with a German officer. He is Vincent Lacoste, a wealthy student who is also hiding a secret. They will marry in 1947 and live a sometimes stormy existence supported by mutual tenderness.

Trauma as a starting point
The film opens with the traumatic sequence of the heroine’s shearing, publicly humiliated for having loved a German during the Occupation. “Anaïs Demoustier has a very difficult score because the role of Madeleine inspires ambivalent feelings in the viewer,” explains Katell Quillévéré. We admire the heroine’s resilience while having difficulty accepting her indifference for her child.
“Vincent Lacoste also did very delicate work of composition and manages to touch the intimate truth of his character,” declares the director. The two actors at the best of their talent carry this beautiful love story which is based on their performances. Time to love is also that of going to see this delicate film in the theater.
