An arrest the day after a bloody attack. A man was taken into custody after an octogenarian was seriously injured in the throat on Tuesday evening at his home in Essonne, the Evry prosecution said on Wednesday, confirming a police source.
Around 10:15 p.m., this elderly man was having dinner in front of his television when a masked man stabbed him before fleeing, according to the prosecution. An individual born in 1991 was arrested near the victim’s home and placed in police custody as part of an investigation for attempted homicide, added the public prosecutor’s office.
“Very committed vital prognosis” for the victim
“We are awaiting the results of the hearings to confirm the fact that there is a link between the man arrested and the victim”, further specified the prosecution. According to police sources, the man was discovered by his wife who was upstairs and called the emergency services.
“Very seriously injured” in the carotid artery, he was transported with a “very committed vital prognosis” to the Parisian hospital Georges-Pompidou. The suspect had, according to the same police source, “slight traces of facial injuries”.
