An LMU forum on the book “Popular Realism” by Moritz Baßler – Munich

What does contemporary storytelling look like – isn’t it much different than “Popular Realism”? At least that’s the title of a new book by the Munster literary scholar Moritz Baßler, and the smug subtitle also suggests that he dislikes a number of things: “On the International Style of Contemporary Storytelling” (CH Beck). An essay from the book, “The New Midcult”, triggered a debate last year, which will now be fueled again in an afternoon and evening at the LMU. On Wednesday, November 16, in the “Literature Saloon” of the LMU-Philologicum from 2 p.m., the lecturer Martin Hielscher, the Germanist Laura Schütz, the author Slata Roschal, the podcaster Fabienne Imlinger and the author and lecturer Georg M. Oswald to be heard. At 7:00 p.m., Baßler himself will also take a position on a panel discussion.

“Popular Realism and Unpopular Thoughts?”, Wednesday, November 16, from 2 p.m., LMU Philologicum Library, Ludwigstraße 25, free admission, information: germanistik.uni-muenchen.de
