An investigation opened for racist aggression after the Olympico

The post-Olympico was electric at the edge of the lawn, with An altercation between Anthony Lopes and some supporters of the north bend, a few minutes after Marseille’s victory at Décines (1-2). Serious incidents then broke out especially on the forecourt of Parc OL. A video that appeared Monday on social networks, and in particular relayed on Twitter by former Lyon striker Sidney Govou, thus shows a real lynching against a black man. This one is put on the ground and hit several times by spectators of this shock of Ligue 1 wearing balaclava or hood.

We distinctly hear, at the beginning of the video, racist insults against the victim: “gang of niggers”, “you’re not at home dirty nigger”. The Lyon prosecutor’s office announced Monday evening that it had opened an investigation into this racist attack, “following in particular a video on social networks presenting a scene of violence”. The Lyon club is in the process of identifying the people involved via its video surveillance cameras, and will transmit its images to the public prosecutor.

A “Proud to be French” banner

OL indicates this Tuesday at 20 minutes “Strongly condemn” this attack, while no complaint has yet been filed. “We encourage people to file a complaint and if they wish to approach us for support,” we explain on the club side. Was the victim a supporter of Olympique de Marseille who attended the match outside the visitor parking lot, despite the prefectural ban? Asked by ProgressOL Groupe stadium manager Xavier Pierrot doesn’t think so.

“We had to manage a certain number of individuals who were trying to hunt down the Marseillais on the forecourt, explains the Lyon leader. On the images of the video that turns, there is no link with this problem of Marseille supporters. “As was especially the case during the OL-OM match in September 2018, Xavier Pierrot admits having again observed “tensions in the stands” during the two Marseille goals. A banner (in three pieces), where it was inscribed “Proud to be French”, briefly released during the match on Sunday by independents located in the south bend, has also been much commented on since Monday on social networks.
