The party is over. An investigation was opened Monday after the rally, visibly improvised, this Sunday in the park of Buttes-Chaumont, learned 20 minutes with the Paris prosecutor’s office. In the images, which have become viral on social networks, dozens of young people could be seen dancing around enclosures without wearing a mask and without respecting the distances in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This investigation was opened for “endangering the life of others” and “participation in a gathering of more than six people on the public highway”, an offense punishable by a fine of 135 euros, according to this source. Police responded to the scene an hour and a half after the start, as the rally was about to end. The prefect of police Didier Lallement made a report to the justice on Monday, the police headquarters said.
According to BFMTV, “A group of friends were celebrating a birthday (..) when a person turned up the sound of the speakers they were using”, “the music then attracted other young people and other groups who joined them to dance “.
