An individual injures at least nine people by shooting randomly in a playground

The United States is once again experiencing a drama linked to firearms. On Saturday, an individual fired randomly in a playground in the state of Michigan, injuring at least nine people, including a child.

The shooting took place in Rochester Hills, a suburb of the city of Detroit, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Several series of shots

“The individual parked, got out of his vehicle, approached the playground, opened fire. He reloaded, opened fire, left. At this stage, it looks a lot like a random act,” the sheriff, Michel Bouchard, told the press. According to him, the shooter “has no connection with the victims”.

The shooting left between nine and ten injured, including an eight-year-old child, the sheriff said. A Glock pistol and several empty magazines were found on site.

The suspect is “surrounded”

“We have an individual, who we believe to be a suspect, surrounded in the surrounding area,” added Michel Bouchard. Elite police response teams and armored vehicles were deployed to the scene.

With more guns than people, the United States has the highest gun death rate of any developed country. Shootings are a recurring scourge that successive governments have so far been powerless to stem, with many Americans remaining very attached to their guns.
