An “explosion” occurs in a high school, no injuries

An explosion took place Thursday morning in a high school in Laval (Mayenne), without causing any injuries, announced the public prosecutor’s office in this town of around 50,000 inhabitants.

At 9:15 a.m., in a corridor of the Douanier Rousseau high school, an explosion rang out, causing “light” damage but causing “no direct injuries”, said Laval public prosecutor Anne-Lyse Jarthon in a press release.

Three people supported

The explosion was caused by “a bottle with liquid and aluminum foil”, she said, announcing the opening of an investigation “on the charge of damage by means dangerous to people”.

“Three people were treated by emergency services and taken to Laval hospital for check-up: one who was bothered by the fumes generated by the explosion and the two others who experienced a state of stress,” she added.

According to the regional daily Ouest-France, students had to be evacuated and classes suspended. They resumed at the beginning of the afternoon, according to the same source.
