An exhibition to capture unique moments in photos takes place in Paris

Smile, you are thereIconic Selfie Studio ! Inspired by the famous selfie museums of Los Angeles, Budapest and Florence, this establishment made in France opens its doors to you in Paris for a crazy experience, which should not be missed until January 14. In a space of 500 square meters, give free rein to your creativity by putting yourself on stage in settings as varied as they are colorful: bathtub, ski resort, telephone booth, or even ball pool. Whether the decorations are sponsored by brands or simply original, at the center of the work of art, it is you! So, arm yourself with your smartphones, charge your batteries well, and set off to explore this museum where you are the star of the exhibition.

Less egocentric than it seems

“It’s so much nicer to take photos of my children in a slightly different world than at home,” Julia confides to 20 minutes. I prefer to go to this kind of event, it’s a change from the horrible photos at school or those we have at home,” admits the mother. With entries costing 16 to 19 euros (free up to 4 years old), the Iconic Selfie Studio can accommodate up to 5,000 people, initially predestined for Gen-Z, it has found a real audience among families. Suitable for young and old alike, the studio has multiple mini-decors, a souvenir shop and a cafeteria making the visit pleasant for groups and discussions. Decorated down to the toilet, the exhibition offers more than twenty decorations, each more original than the last.

“This type of exposure helps you stay active on social networks without spending too much time creating content,” analyzes sociologist Frédéric Godart. It is a means of expression that encourages socialization in groups, something that is becoming difficult in our times.” For him, this type of event does not accentuate individualism, on the contrary! At the Iconic Selfie Studio, selfies turn into real photo shoots that are difficult to enjoy alone. Our advice: come with friends to get your best shots in the red LED decor, in the window or in the jungle.

More marketing than it seems

Imagined by the French communications agency OconnectionL‘Iconic Selfie Studio has also become a marketing asset for brands. At the origin of 14 of the 35 decorations of the exhibition, brands such as Coca-Cola, Renova, Brut and Casio have joined forces with the museum. They created original decors, reflecting their brand identity, with the aim of maintaining or building links with a young audience online. The exhibition encourages visitors to share their photos on the web, by tagging the Instagram account @iconic_selfiestudio or with the hashtag #iconicselfiestudio, thus attracting certain brands who wish to be present on social networks. For example, the watch brand Casio organizes a daily competition, allowing visitors to win a watch by scanning a QR code. Other brands, such as Bulldogthe brand of men’s grooming products, have adopted a more direct approach by dressing the toilets in the colors of their universe and offering their products self-service for visitors.

These partnerships have increased the number of “Instagrammable” settings to 35 in the Iconic Selfie Studio, providing even more opportunities to take unusual photos. “Depending on the number of visits, we could consider a permanent place, with changing decorations,” confides to 20 minutes Arnaud Baudry d’Asson, the president ofOconnection. The agency even imagines a traveling future for the ephemeral museum, “perhaps one day, the Iconic Selfie Studio will even be present at festivals”.
