The accident happened early in the afternoon on Tuesday. A 50-year-old man, a handler at the sorting center of the Joint Syndicate for the Elimination of Waste, west of Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes), had his arm torn off by a conveyor belt, learned 20 minutes from concordant sources, confirming information from Nice morning.
A planned transplant
The employee, a resident of the neighboring town of Mandelieu-La-Napoule, was immediately rescued by one of his colleagues who was able to give him a tourniquet. He was transported to the Pasteur hospital in Nice, where he could undergo a transplant. His upper limb could be recovered and conditioned for an operation, according to the regional daily.
