An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 felt near Andorra on Monday morning

The ground shook in the Pyrenees on Monday morning. It was shortly before 10:30 a.m., when an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale according to
France Earthquake was recorded by the sensors installed along the chain. The epicenter of this earthquake would be located in Spain, not far from the border with Ariège and a few kilometers from the Principality of Andorra, in a sparsely populated area.

On its site, the National Seismic Monitoring Network reported another event at the same time: around 10:23 am, a magnitude 4.1 shock was detected automatically and must be validated by seismologists.

According to the Pyrenean Center for Major Risks, the massif records 300 to 400 earthquakes per year, “generally small tremors, imperceptible by the population”, which do not exceed 3 in magnitude.
