The speculation about an alleged rift at FC Bayern between coach Thomas Tuchel and his team continues. TV expert Dietmar Hamann now followed up.
“I have my doubts about whether they will go through fire for him,” said Hamann, referring to the support of the Bayern players for Tuchel on “Sky”.
After all, the coach has been in office for a long time now. “And if you don’t have the team behind you after four or six weeks, it will be incredibly difficult,” emphasized the ex-professional: “Now an awful lot of cracks have appeared.”
In the first half of the season, at least the results at FC Bayern were good. “They won the games, but rarely shone. This dominance, that they controlled and dominated games, was something you rarely saw,” Hamann looked back.
The 50-year-old therefore demanded: “At some point they have to finally start to have a sense of success and build up their self-confidence to some extent again.”
According to Hamann, one person who can help the German record champions is Matthijs de Ligt. The TV expert cannot understand why the Dutchman doesn’t play a big role under Tuchel: “For me, De Ligt would be one of the first players to whom I would say: You need players who make others better. He was at 20 or 21 Captain at Ajax Amsterdam.”
The central defender is a professional who you can actually rely on in such a situation. “Because if you can’t rely on him, then it will be incredibly difficult. These are the players he needs,” said Hamann.
FC Bayern: Tuchel denies “Sky” report
After the 3-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen and the 1-0 defeat against Lazio Rome, criticism of Thomas Tuchel has become louder. “Sky” reported after the defeats that the coach was said to have attacked his players harshly in the dressing room. “You’re not as good as I thought, so I’ll just have to adapt to your level.”
FC Bayern vehemently denied the report on Saturday. “That’s completely absurd. A coach who says a sentence like that won’t get on the bus with his team anymore. What’s the point?” said Tuchel at the press conference before the game against VfL Bochum on Sunday.
