The Paysages de France association unveiled this Friday its classification annual of the four “ugliest” cities in France. Drum roll…. These are Migné-Auxances (Vienne), Montalieu-Vercieu (Isère), Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) and Dambach-la-Ville (Bas-Rhin), reports Capitalbased on information from South West and West France.
What do these different municipalities have in common? Very (too) present advertising displays. Each city has thus had the privilege of receiving a distinctive award. Migné-Auxances was awarded the “Tombé dans le Panel” prize. “The jury of Cities and Villages in bloom only awarded a poor flower to Migné-Auxances. However, this town near Poitiers deserved to obtain, for its advertising flowers, the five flowers of a label which has only four ”, Paysages de France justifies with irony.

The association regrets the inaction of the mayors
Montalieu-Vercieu was awarded the “Publicity campaign” prize for its advertising displays on old building facades while Dambach-la-Ville received the “Heritage enhancement” prize for a panel installed at the entrance to the old town. Finally, in the “Advertising without moderation” category, Le Havre won.
“Associated with the advertisers, the alcohol lobbies blew the cap of the Evin law. Le Havre, a Unesco world heritage site, wanted to join without moderation in this noble cause which allows doctors, the police and the courts not to have to fear the lack of work ”, comments the association. Paysages de France aims to fight against visual pollution and defends the preservation of landscapes. The association thus denounces the inaction of the mayors who nevertheless had “the means to fight this advertising invasion”.
