An association deplores the “critical situation” in air transport one year from the Games

An update less than a year from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The APF France Handicap association wrote to President Emmanuel Macron to alert, “less than a year from the Olympic Games”, about the “critical situation in the air transport for people with reduced mobility”.

“Whether during reception at the airport, connections between airports or with city centers, the handling of wheelchairs or any other mobility aid device, serious malfunctions have been observed”, written in a statement this association which defends people with motor disabilities.

350,000 people with disabilities are expected to attend the Olympics

She reports malfunctions in French air transport “during reception at departures, arrivals and even more during transits, sometimes catastrophic”, in her letter to President Macron. In order to put an end to these “unacceptable situations”, the association suggests “the establishment of a working group between all the stakeholders (direct service providers, subcontractors, user representatives)”.

It proposes to “mobilize” its “experts on the civil aviation dossier”, its “members and volunteers” to “test the systems in the field”, or to “develop awareness-raising or training actions” “in the direction of personnel”. According to APF France Handicap, 350,000 people with disabilities, all disabilities combined, should attend the 2024 Summer Games.
