Shortly before the end, the Tennessee Titans are four points behind in their duel with the Pittsburgh Steelers and throw a long pass to Treylon Burks. Then a moment of shock follows.

Three days before the NFL guest game in In Germany, there has once again been a disturbing scene in the strongest football league in the world with a motionless professional on the field.

Shortly before the end of the Tennessee Titans’ 16:20 defeat at the Pittsburgh Steelers, Titans pass receiver Treylon Burks suddenly couldn’t get up after a fall. According to information from the broadcasting channel Amazon Prime, he was able to move all of his limbs, but his state of health initially remained unclear. At the end of the game, he is said to have walked to the dressing room with support.

The 23-year-old tried to catch a long pass on Thursday evening – and hit the back of his head hard on the field, as could be seen on TV images. It remains unclear whether this impact was the reason why he immediately rolled onto his side and then stopped moving. After minutes of treatment, he was driven from the field in a car and, according to Amazon Prime, initially placed under the supervision of a neurologist. As he was being driven off the field, he appeared to be holding up his left hand.

A bitter setback

Two and a half weeks ago, Damien Harris of the Buffalo Bills was left lying down and taken to the hospital after a hard collision. He was able to go home the next day with a sprained neck. Earlier this year, fellow Bills player Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He only made his comeback to the National Football League at the beginning of this season.

For the Titans, the defeat was the fourth in the eighth game of the season. This was a major setback for the team’s playoff ambitions. The Steelers, on the other hand, stayed in touch with the top teams in their conference with their sixth win of the season.

The NFL will play a main round game in Germany on Sunday for the second time in its history. The Kansas City Chiefs meet the Miami Dolphins in Frankfurt/Main. A week later the New England Patriots play the Carolina Panthers. The game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks in Munich last year was the first for an NFL game in Germany.
