The director of Roland-Garros Amélie Mauresmo had filed a complaint for moral harassment against her former partner with whom she had shared her life since 2014.
JUSTICE – A… legal victory for the former sportswoman. In the middle of divorce proceedings, ex-French tennis player Amélie Mauresmo faced her former partner at the Bayonne criminal court. In question ? The harassment that Amélie Mauresmo felt she was suffering from Marie-Bénédicte Hurel.
This Tuesday, February 13, my most successful Frenchwoman in singles since the beginning of the Open era finally won her case after a closed-door trial held on January 23, where she filed a civil suit, as reports it France Blue.
The former companion of the sportswoman was sentenced to four months in prison after being found guilty of moral harassment, while the prosecution had initially requested ten months in prison. She was also ordered to pay a symbolic euro in damages while she contested the facts.
“Humiliation, blackmail, insults”
From now on, the one who shared Amélie Mauresmo’s life will no longer have the right to approach her or the home of her new partner. According to information from the local newspaper, Amélie Mauresmo had decided to divorce in 2023, after having shared her life with Marie-Bénédicte Hurel since 2014. They also got married in 2021.
But according to the defense of the current director of the Roland-Garros tournament, his former partner regularly made denigrating and insulting remarks against him. A love story which ended with his ex-partner being taken into custody in Biarritz last September.
“ Humiliation, blackmail, insults punctuated his daily life, including by SMS », according to France Bleu. Amélie Mauresmo also received a total incapacity for work (ITT) of ten days because of this relationship which had become toxic.
But the case does not seem to be over, as indicated by the defense lawyer, who has already announced his intention to appeal this decision. “The defendant was notably acquitted of the acts of moral harassment to the detriment of the new partner of the woman of whom she is still the wife… She was also cleared of the prosecution according to which she had intruded into the complainant’s mailbox”welcomed Me Thierry Sagardoytho after having mentioned a “ simple reprieve, far removed from the severe requisitions of the public prosecutor.”
