AMD is rumored to be making the Radeon RX 7900 Golden Rabbit Edition for the Chinese market. The animal was not chosen at random, because according to the 12-year cycle, it is currently the year of the rabbit in China. Above all, the graphics card should have a heavily modified memory interface with 16 GB GDDR6, otherwise the GPU technically corresponds to the Radeon RX 7900 XT (test).
Unlike the last Chinese special edition, the AMD Radeon RX590 GME (Golden Metal Ox Edition), the computing power is unlikely to be increased. The core layout should be similar to the Radeon RX 7900 XT. A Navi 31 chip with 5,376 shader cores is used. However, the chiplet structure enables a special memory layout.
Instead of 20 GB of GDDR6 on a 320-bit memory bus, 16 GB are to be installed on a 256-bit bus. Since western AAA titles are less common in China, manufacturers can save more here than is possible in western countries. Less graphically demanding titles and e-sports require significantly less memory.
Optimized for the Chinese market
The clock rate for the GPU should remain identical to the AMD Radeon RX 7900XT, around 2.4 gigahertz can be expected depending on the load. The performance of the memory modules is also identical to the memory of the Radeon RX 7900 XT at 20 Mt/s. The graphics card should be equipped with 2x 8-pin power connectors and designed for a TDP of 300 watts. In combination with an economical CPU, even 500 watt power supplies are sufficient.
The exact release date is still unclear, but July 28, 2023 is a frequently mentioned date. The GPU is unlikely to be available outside of the Chinese market, or not at all, and an import will probably not be worthwhile, since the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT is readily available and, thanks to the better memory equipment, is also more powerful. Intel recently released a GPU exclusively for the Chinese market, the Intel Arc Alchemist A380 (test).
