Amazon Prime Video: Pumuckl now without age restrictions – Munich

The streaming service Amazon Prime Video caused a sensation because it only released certain episodes of the popular children’s series from the age of 12. It is now said that this was a mistake.

The Pumuckl is of course something for children. The Prime Video streaming service caused a stir because certain episodes of two seasons of “Meister Eder und sein Pumuckl” were only released from the age of twelve. At the request of the German Press Agency, however, it said on Thursday evening: A mistake. The age limit was incorrectly stored.

The error will now be corrected as soon as possible. Some of this has already happened. There is no age limit for the seasons of the popular children’s series from the 1980s that can be seen on Prime Video. This is also what the voluntary self-regulation of the film industry (FSK) stipulated, which is followed. The supposed age limit caused confusion a few days before the premiere of the TV series “New Stories from Pumuckl”.

The new version of the series classic will be shown for the first time on Saturday at the beginning of the Children’s Film Festival in Munich. Pumuckl is played in the new version of the classic series by Maximilian Schafroth – the voice and acting of the Bavarian cabaret artist serve as a template for the animation of the goblin. Directed by Marcus H. Rosenmüller (“Trautmann”).

The episodes can be seen on RTL+, RTL and SUPER RTL at the end of 2023. The original of the TV series about Pumuckl based on the books by Ellis Kaut had conquered children’s hearts from 1982 onwards. At Clarin’s side, Gustl Bayrhammer (1922-1993) played the easygoing master carpenter Eder, who sometimes despaired at his goblin’s pranks, but still took him to his heart.
