Amazon on trial Monday for selling child sex dolls

At the time, the case scandalized associations for the protection of minors. The e-commerce giant, Amazon, will be tried, from this Monday in the Dieppe court, for having offered for sale on its website sex dolls bearing the likeness of children, reports The Parisianthis Sunday.

In August 2020, after several associations were reported, the Secretary of State for Children and Families, Adrien Taquet, had asked the Web giant to withdraw these items from sale. “Following alerts from associations that I thank, I asked (Amazon France) to end the marketing on their platform of sex dolls bearing the likeness of children”, detailed Adrien Taquet on Twitter, “which ‘Amazon France immediately made a commitment to remain vigilant. Banishing pedocrime from our society is everyone’s responsibility.

Several civil party associations

According to the association “La Voix des enfants”, which filed a civil action, Amazon must appear before the Dieppe court, from Monday, “as part of the appearance on prior recognition of guilt (CRPC)” . Several associations had filed a complaint, leading to the opening of an investigation against the Web giant for “exploitation of child pornography images and dissemination of pornographic images likely to be seen or perceived by minors”.

“These images and these sales can only lead to acting out. Also, La Voix de l’enfant deplores the use of this CRPC procedure insofar as it does not provide for a public debate. Given the seriousness of the facts, it considers that a public debate of general interest is essential in order to debate on the merits and fight effectively against sexual violence committed against children, “wrote the association in a Press release. A man, domiciled in Seine-Maritime, is also summoned this Monday to the Dieppe court for having bought a doll on the site.
