Amazon more popular than Apple when it comes to data protection

conducted survey had over 1,000 participants within the US. One of the questions asked was how much one trusts services from Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram, Whatsapp, Youtube, Microsoft, Google or Apple.

Google and Amazon are catching up

Users could indicate that they trust a company or a platform “quite a lot”, “relatively much”, “not much” or “not at all” when it comes to storing their personal data. Only 18 percent of those surveyed trusted Apple completely, but Google and Amazon were behind with 14 percent. However, 39 and 34 percent of users trust Amazon and Google “pretty much”, while Apple is well behind with 26 percent. Only 44 percent of those surveyed were generally positive about Apple, while Google and Amazon had significantly higher values ​​of 48 and 53 percent, respectively.

Personalized advertising

40 percent do not like to trust the giant Facebook with their private data. Of all the providers, Facebook is the company that users trust the least. Tiktok, Instagram, Whatsapp, Youtube, Google and Microsoft follow directly behind. Users were also asked about personalized advertisements. 82 percent find such advertisements annoying, 74 percent even feel annoyed by them. Only 27 percent of those surveyed found personalized advertising helpful.
