Amazon denounces Blanche Gardin’s “false and inaccurate comments” after her murderous message

The company responds to Blanche Gardin, a few days after the message in which she refused to participate in “Lol, who laughs, comes out!” and denounced the practices of this e-commerce giant.

Jeff Bezos’ Empire strikes back. Amazon issued a statement on Sunday to respond to Blanche Gardin’s vitriolic message, in which the comic accused the e-commerce giant of “not (not paying) its taxes in France”, of overpolluting or yet to use “labour from the Uyghur concentration camps”.

“Ms. Blanche Gardin’s statement published on social networks contains false and inaccurate comments about Amazon”, assures the platform in particular, as reported pure media.

In a Facebook message published last Thursday and addressed directly to the president of the company, the comedian revealed that he had been approached to participate in the next season of Lol: who laughs, comes out!. This flagship program of Prime Video, Amazon’s streaming platform, brings together celebrities who must try to make each other laugh without ever succumbing to the jokes of others. The winner gives away 50,000 euros to the association of their choice. Blanche Gardin explained, point by point, the ethical reasons for her refusal.

In its response, Amazon recalls contributing “to the dynamism of the territories” and offering “an excellent quality service” at “low prices, despite the increase in the cost of living”, in an extract relayed by nice morning. And responds to Blanche Gardin’s accusations about her taxation:

“We pay our fair share of taxes, which amounted to 1 billion euros in 2021”, she assures, as reported Point. “(We are) in the top 100 of the most tax-paying French companies.”

“Achieving carbon neutrality by 2040”

In her message, Blanche Gardin also accused the platform of emitting “55.8 million tonnes of greenhouse gases per year (the equivalent of Portugal’s emissions) only with its data centers, not to mention the thousands of trucks. , airplanes…”. What the main interested responds:

“We have made an ambitious commitment in the fight against climate change with The Climate Pledge, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.”

Point notes that the company did not respond to Blanche Gardin’s remarks concerning the use of Uyghur labor.

Wonderful stamps?

Another element did not find an answer in Amazon’s press release: that of the remuneration of artists who participate in Lol: who laughs, comes out!. Blanche Gardin declared in her message that she would be paid 200,000 euros in the event of participation, while the association she would represent would win “four times less, and again, only if I win”: “it bothers me to touch, for 8 hours of work, this maddening amount“, she wrote.

Launched in 2021, presented by actor-director Philippe Lacheau, Lol: who laughs, comes out! benefited from an important echo with its season 3 broadcast last month. This 2023 vintage brought together a five-star cast: Pierre Niney, Leïla Bekhti, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Gad Elmaleh, Géraldine Nakache or Virginie Efira lent themselves to the game.
