After the violent death of a couple in Swabia, the investigators do not assume that the two were killed in a failed burglary. After the first traces were secured at the crime scene in Altenstadt (Neu-Ulm district), such a scenario was ruled out “with a high degree of probability”, the police said on Friday. Rather, people “from the social environment” of the couple were identified who could have possible motives for an act of violence.
The perpetrator or perpetrators tried to make the couple’s death look like an extended suicide, police said. But this plan didn’t work out. Investigators did not provide any details about what happened or the suspect. Relatives found the 70-year-old and the 55-year-old dead in their house in Markt Altenstadt (Neu-Ulm district) on April 22. In the course of the investigation into the case, the special commission “Mühlbach” has reportedly processed around 130 leads and conducted 42 interrogations. The investigations are ongoing.
