Already seven hectares ravaged by flames in the Roya Valley

The fire broke out late Wednesday afternoon and had already covered nearly seven hectares of vegetation by Thursday morning. A forest fire in an area difficult to access in the town of La Brigue, in the Roya valley, in the hinterland of Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), is still in progress, informs the Departmental Fire Service and emergency (Sdis 06). He specifies that no dwelling is threatened “at the present time”.

In the evening and that night, 29 fire engines and 75 firefighters were mobilized. “A succession of all staff will be carried out this [jeudi] morning” and, with daybreak, air resources are also expected as reinforcements, specifies Sdis 06.

At the end of last year, the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes, which took measures to fight against the drought until December 15, recalled that the department was facing a water deficit of 40% to 60% compared to the normal.
