Linus Straßer is on the verge of his third win of the season at the Palisades Slalom. But then he botched the finish of the second round and ended up in third place. The World Cup leader celebrates.
In the overall slalom ranking, the 31-year-old is now 204 points behind the leader Feller with three races still remaining and therefore only has a theoretical chance of winning the small crystal ball.
After an excellent first run, Straßer went into the decision as the leader with a lead of four tenths of a second. Even then he got off to a great start and was three quarters of a second ahead. On a difficult course and on a somewhat battered slope, he lost more and more time – in the end, the TSV 1860 Munich athlete was 0.38 seconds behind Feller and 0.10 seconds behind Noel.
