Almuth Schult moves permanently from the goal line to the TV studio. She is now a permanent member of the “Sportschau” team as an expert.

The former soccer goalkeeper Almuth Schult (32) will accompany ARD’s live football broadcasts as a permanent member in the future. According to a statement from the broadcaster, Schult will then work as an expert and co-commentator with a focus on women’s football. She also strengthens the team when broadcasting live men’s games.

“I am very grateful to ARD for the trust they have placed in me,” said the world goalkeeper from 2017 in her statement. The experiences in recent years have opened up many new perspectives for her and given her the opportunity to be close to football even in times away from the pitch. “It’s also a lot of fun to work with the different editorial teams and always get to know new people,” continues Schult.

Almuth Schult has already worked for ARD several times

ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky also spoke up and described Schult as a “great asset”: “We have already seen her expertise, her clever and clear analyzes as well as her friendly and open manner in our broadcasts of the last two major men’s football events got to know and appreciate.” That’s why it’s even nicer to be able to welcome her as a permanent part of the “Sportschau” team.

Schult already worked for ARD in 2021 as an expert at the 2021 Men’s European Football Championship. Since October 2022, she has been working as an expert and co-commentator on games in the men’s Bundesliga, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the streaming service DAZN. She also worked as an expert for ARD at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The mother of three small children became German champions six times, cup winners eight times and won the Champions League in 2014 during her career with VfL Wolfsburg. With the national team she triumphed at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and won the European Championships in Sweden in 2013. In total, she stood between the posts 66 times for the DFB team.
