Almost demolition in Paderborn – SCP beats Hansa

As of: December 15, 2023 11:05 p.m

The second division game between SC Paderborn and Hansa Rostock on Friday evening (December 15, 2023) was dominated by fan protests against the DFL’s investor deal. The game was about to be abandoned. Paderborn won 3-0 (1-0) after two interruptions.

First of all, both fan camps implemented the previously announced boycott of sentiment in the first twelve minutes. From the 13th minute onwards, the Rostock fans set off pyrotechnics. Therefore, the referee Wolfgang Haslberger interrupted the game and ordered the professionals into the dressing room. The game only resumed nine minutes later.

Second interruption in the 2nd half

In the 56th minute, rockets flew onto the field again. Haslberger again saw no possibility of continuing the game and the players had to go into the dressing room again. The game was now about to be abandoned. After an interruption of almost half an hour, the match was able to continue with the score 1-0 for Paderborn.

There are also said to have been an unprecedented number of injuries to Hansa supporters and police officers in the stands as part of fan riots. In addition, two police cars as well as catering stands, sanitary facilities and entry controls are said to have been damaged. SC managing director Martin Hornberger estimated the damage caused a few hours after the game on Friday evening at around 100,000 euros.

Sports director Walter: “Distance us”

Rostock’s sports director Kristian Walter had clear words after the end of the game: “We completely distance ourselves from the fact that objects – especially fireworks – are thrown onto the field and players are put in danger. If some people go completely crazy, that is completely incomprehensible.”

Already on Sunday in Rostock’s home game against Schalke (0-2), supporters of both clubs caused an interruption of more than 25 minutes with arguments in the stands.

Sport almost took a back seat that evening. In the end there was a clear and deserved victory for SC Paderborn, which Adriano Grimaldi (25th), Raphael Obermair (67th) and Kai Klefisch (75th) scored.

Red for keeper Kolke

Rostock’s keeper Markus Kolke was sent off by referee Haslberger in the 63rd minute after an emergency stop on SCP striker Ilyas Ansah. Then the Rostock disaster began. Substitute keeper Nils Körber had to reach behind himself after just four minutes. Klefisch made everything clear a little later.

In the first game after the dismissal of coach Alois Schwartz, with junior coach Uwe Speidel coaching him on an interim basis, Hansa was unable to stop the negative trend. Thanks to the clear home win, SC Paderborn moved closer to the top group and is now 6th.
