There have often been cattle in Bavaria that simply disappear and cannot be caught again for months. Years ago, the pregnant cow Regina disappeared from her pasture in the Allgäu region without a trace. Days later, a hiker discovered her unharmed and happy in a hole in the ground. However, a cow fleeing because of a crime is new.
The cow that stuck its head in the road of the Alpsee Coaster near Immenstadt days ago and caused an accident escaped undetected. All animals in the adjacent pasture appear to be uninjured, police said. The investigators did not want to say whether the cattle gave each other an alibi. In the end it probably doesn’t matter, since the man who broke his collarbone in the collision with the cow’s skull doesn’t want to press charges against anyone: the operator of the summer toboggan run, the owner, the cows. The police are still investigating negligent bodily harm.
The Swabian The injured party has now explained with astonishing calmness how exactly the accident occurred. “If you brake, you lose,” he shouted to his family at the start, which is why he accelerated out of the third bend and hit the cow’s head with his right shoulder at 25 km/h. However, the collarbone broke on the left side, probably due to the abrupt stop of his vehicle, which pressed him into the belt. When the 53-year-old rolled out of the coaster, he landed in a cow patty.
This could indicate that the cow planned the prank well in advance, but the injured party believes it was a coincidence. He finds it difficult to identify the perpetrator: “Brown and white spots and rather lighter” doesn’t help the police. They all look the same. The 53-year-old says he is glad he rushed into the animal. It is built more sturdily. His wife or son, who came behind him, might have suffered worse injuries. Whether the cow’s head is still buzzing will probably never be determined. After all, cows are considered intelligent with impressive long-term memories: If the accident did not cause memory loss, the animal will only observe the summer toboggan run from a distance in the future.
