Alleged Reich citizen from Boxberg-Bobstadt in court – SWR Aktuell

A suspected Reich citizen from the Main-Tauber district has to answer to the State Security Senate of the Higher Regional Court in Stuttgart-Stammheim on Wednesday.

After the shots at police officers during an operation in Boxberg in Baden, a suspected citizen of the Reich will be on trial in Stuttgart from Wednesday. The 55-year-old man is accused of multiple attempted murder. On April 20, 2022, he is said to have shot a police special operation unit (SEK) from his apartment with a rapid-fire rifle.

Shots through shutters

A police officer suffered gunshot wounds in both legs, another officer was slightly injured. According to the indictment, the alleged Reich citizen had shot out of his living room and bedroom through almost completely lowered shutters. He changed position several times and only gave up after two hours. A fire broke out in the house.

Raid for confiscation of pistol

The reason for the police action at the time was that a pistol was to be taken from the martial arts trainer, who had previously been convicted of violent crimes.

The weapons authority had revoked the permit, but the 55-year-old did not hand in his gun. Investigators later found other firearms, including submachine guns and over 5,000 rounds of ammunition, in the burned-out building.

Because of the special importance of the case, the federal prosecutor’s office had taken over the investigation. Negotiation dates for the process are scheduled until autumn.

Second “Reichsbürger” procedure in a short time

It is the second case in Stuttgart that Federal Public Prosecutor General Peter Frank has initiated in a short period of time. A week and a half ago, a suspected Reich citizen had already been sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted murder. However, the judgment is not yet final. The 62-year-old is said to have intentionally hit a police officer in Efringen-Kirchen in southern Baden and seriously injured him.
