At the turn of the year, Uli Hoeneß once again commented on Qatar. If he still had something to say at Bayern Munich, according to Hoeneß, he would extend the lucrative sponsorship contract with the emirate: “In my opinion, nothing improves if you stop cooperation like this.” Herbert Hainer, who as president of FC Bayern definitely has something to say, sees it that way too. After the scandal at the association’s annual general meeting in early December, when a member’s much-noticed application to vote on the partnership with the airline Qatar Airways was not even approved, Hainer also wrote about it in a letter. The letter went to the Swiss criminal lawyer Mark Pieth.
