Allegations against Rammstein Till Lindemann

As of June 13, 2023, 4:19 p.m

The allegations of sexual abuse against Till Lindemann are fierce – and the Rammstein singer defends himself with the help of prominent lawyers. One thing is clear: it is statement against statement. And what does the public prosecutor’s office in Germany do? Are they already investigating against the 60-year-old?

Apparently no preliminary proceedings against Till Lindemann in Lithuania

According to the Lithuanian daily “Lietuvos rytas“The police in Lithuania do not want to initiate investigations against Till Lindemann. That said a spokesman on site in Vilnius. There was no evidence of a crime.

However, the decision still has to be approved by the Vilnius Prosecutor’s Office. Formalities were already initiated on Thursday. However, prosecutors could start proceedings if they believe the police’s decision to be unfounded.

Investigations against Lindemann in Germany?

Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) asked the Berlin public prosecutor’s office whether there were any investigations against Rammstein singer Till Lindemann. The clear answer: No, “there are currently no pending investigations” (as of June 8th). So far, so clear, but even if there were to be investigations in the near future, the public would not notice anything at first.

Authorities are not giving out any information

A spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office pointed out that the authority may only provide information if “a minimum number of supporting facts would have been given”. A simple complaint against Lindemann is not enough. Even with a so-called preliminary examination, the public prosecutor’s office does not have to provide any information, the spokesman continued.

Public prosecutors must protect personal rights

In such cases, the judiciary must always weigh up the right to information from the press on the one hand and the personal rights of the person concerned on the other. There is always a risk that the person concerned will be publicly prejudiced by information from the authorities. The consequence therefore: It often takes a long time before the authorities go public with information about investigations.
