Allegations against Jimmy Fallon – media

Since 2014 at the latest, Jimmy Fallon has been one of the most famous television faces in the USA. That’s when he took over hosting the longest-running late-night talk show in the world Tonight Show. However, this week wasn’t fun for the Emmy-winning entertainer and his producers: 14 former and two current employees of the show anonymously contacted the American music magazine with serious allegations Rolling Stones and accused Fallon in particular of a toxic way of working.

It is said that people are afraid of the presenter’s outbursts of anger, that the “bad Jimmy days” are notorious, and that the atmosphere is terrible: “When Jimmy is in a bad mood, the day is doomed for everyone. People don’t joke in the office, Don’t stand around, don’t talk to each other.” Fallon and other leaders have also been accused of disparaging and intimidating employees.

Some report that this behavior has even had a negative impact on their mental health. One person explained to the music magazine: “Mentally I was at the lowest point in my life. I didn’t want to live anymore.” Fallon’s alcohol consumption is also stressful. In 2017, the moderator appeared drunk at work, and in 2019 and 2020 he is said to have smelled of alcohol. In addition, his behavior on the set depends on whether he was hung over from last night or not.

The broadcaster NBC responded with a statement in which Fallon himself is not mentioned by name. Instead, it is stated that the show is proud and that a respectful working atmosphere is a top priority. Complaints were investigated and, if necessary, measures were taken – but these were not specified.

According to various US media, Jimmy Fallon has since apologized to his colleagues. During a Zoom conference, he said that it was never his intention to create a toxic atmosphere: “It’s embarrassing and I feel so bad.” He is sorry if he embarrassed his employees and their families and friends. His show should be fun and inclusive.
