Allegation of incitement: arrest warrant against newly elected AfD man

Member of the “Teutonia Prague” fraternity in Würzburg

Background: Daniel Halemba belongs to the controversial “Teutonia Prague” fraternity in Würzburg. The police carried out a raid there in mid-September – and found all sorts of evidence in the property. An investigation was initiated against Halemba, who was present during the search: for possible use of symbols of anti-constitutional organizations and for possible incitement to hatred.

Neighbors are also said to have repeatedly contacted the police after shouts of “Sieg Heil” were heard at the fraternity’s evening celebrations. “Inaccurate, absurd and easy to understand” – this is how the young AfD man himself commented on the allegations to BR24 a good two weeks ago. The house search was carried out arbitrarily – with the aim of damaging the AfD and his candidacy. According to Halemba, there is no incriminating material against him.

Ebner-Steiner: “Flimsy justification”

The AfD’s state parliamentary group confirmed on Friday evening that an arrest warrant had been issued against one of its members of the state parliament. However, parliamentary group leader Katrin Ebner-Steiner did not give any names or details.

In return, she expressed sharp criticism of the judiciary’s actions: the process was a “demonstration of poverty for our democracy,” said Ebner-Steiner. Three days before the inaugural session of Parliament, a member of parliament should now be “imprisoned on flimsy grounds”.
