All water restriction measures lifted in Finistère

Brittany was not spared like many regions by the drought this summer. But in recent weeks, the situation has tended to improve. Placed in drought crisis since August, the four Breton departments have thus moved to the heightened alert level.

In Finistère, the prefect has even just lifted all the measures restricting the use of water which were in force in the department. “The precipitation since the beginning of September and more particularly the last fortnight has made it possible to significantly improve the flow of the rivers of the department and to increase the humidity of the soil”, underlines the prefecture of Finistère. From today, residents can once again water their vegetable gardens or lawns or clean their cars.

“Saving water should be a daily concern”

Despite the lifting of the latest restrictions, however, the authorities are warning. “Saving water must be a daily concern for all users of the department”, underlines the prefecture, which also challenges communities “on the issues of rehabilitation or renewal of networks, in order to limit leaks, d improve yields and guarantee food for populations in the event of a crisis. »

Professionals are also invited to “contribute to efforts by implementing more water-efficient processes”, such as the reuse of water in a closed circuit or the use of rainwater.
