All ‘Ethereum Killers’ Will Die: Blockdaemon’s Freddy Zwanzger Says

Blockdaemon’s ETH ecosystem leader Freddy Zwanzger believes that Ethereum will continue its leadership position in the crypto ecosystem over the next few years. Due to its smart contract platform and upgrades to the Merge

Zwanzger spoke to Cointelegraph. During this week’s Ethereum (EthCC) Community Conference: “ETH will continue to lead. It is obviously the first and most important smart contract platform. And that won’t change.”

Blockdaemon is an institutional blockchain infrastructure platform that provides node functionality and infrastructure tools for blockchain projects.

Whereas in the case of the “Ethereum killer” — or projects built to compete with the Layer 1 blockchain — that attempt to topple Ethereum from its leadership will ultimately fail.

“Not all Ethereum killers in the past will succeed. And we don’t think they’ve succeeded at all.”

Crypto projects that have been dubbed “Ethereum killers” such as Solana, Cardano, Tezos, and Polkadot among others, many of these blockchains tend to convince users with lower fees and faster transactions. But there are still few active developers and some blockchains have little to do with decentralization.

until now No one has yet been able to replace Ethereum in terms of market capitalization. While Cardano and Solana are currently ranked 8th and 9th, Polkadot is 11th, while Tezos is 37th according to Coinmarketcap.

Zwanzger believes that the upcoming Merge will drive Ethereum even further in technology and price.

“There are a lot of good things in there like being eco-friendly. [และ] Things that benefit more people, including stakes, will be more attractive,” he said.

“This is a demonstration of the strength and commitment of a concrete plan.”

Ethereum Merge involves the transition from It is slated to launch around September 19.

However, Zwanzger admits that the big challenge going forward for Ethereum remains scalability.

“The original Ethereum roadmap focused on sharding, but that’s not it anymore. Because we now have a roadmap focused on roll-up and scaling will be done through a layer 2 solution.”

Sharding is a multi-phase upgrade to improve Ethereum’s scalability and capacity by splitting the entire network into multiple parts to increase network capacity.

Sharding will work with a Layer 2 solution to “power” the network scalability.
