The 26-year-old man on trial for the death of British MP David Amess, stabbed in October in an attack that shocked the United Kingdom, was found guilty on Monday of murder and preparation of terrorist acts.

Ali Harbi Ali, who was born and raised in London in a family of Somali descent, had pleaded not guilty but told the hearing that he had targeted the chosen one to prevent him from “harming” Muslims by authorizing the bombardment of Syria.
