Alexei Navalny: MEP Sergey Lagodinsky on his situation

The MEP Sergey Lagodinsky speaks about the condition of the Russian opposition member Alexei Navalny, the resistance against the Putin regime – and calls for a prisoner exchange with Russia.

The Russian opposition politician Alexej Navalny is to be sentenced to a further 20 years in prison today, according to the public prosecutor’s office. You know Navalny from studying together in the USA and are in contact with those around him. How is Navalny’s health?
His health is precarious. Someone who barely survived a poison attack and who has been transferred to an isolation cell 14 times in a year is of course at risk of health. There were phases in which he was much worse than today. But you have to understand that the danger is permanent. Sometimes they intentionally put him in a cell with people who are infectious.
