Alexander Zverev against Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open: Tommy Haas gives a tip – “He could play more aggressively”

Haas continues: “If he fights for every point and counteracts it as best he can, then anything is possible.”

Haas was also impressed by the 19-year-old Spaniard Alcaraz, who has already won four tournaments this year.

“He’s taken our breath away a bit in the past few months,” said Haas: “He has no weaknesses.”

Alcaraz is already very tough and is one of the favorites in Paris behind Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who will be playing their eagerly awaited giant duel on Tuesday evening.

Zverev warned: Alcaraz reminds Haas of Nadal

Haas even drew a comparison to Alcaraz’ compatriot and record Grand Slam winner Nadal: “If you look at the last tournaments and the results he’s achieved, it’s really phenomenal. Also how casual he does it, with straight once 19 years old, how bitingly he pursues every point or how he moves, that is very reminiscent of Rafa Nadal,” said Haas in an interview Eurosport.

Haas added: “He’s one of the biggest challenges this year at the French Open. The way it is: He could have been kicked out against Adrian Ramos in the second round. Now he’s in the quarter-finals and obviously feels good.”

Zverev would prescribe a slightly more offensive style of play for the 44-year-old. “He’s always very far behind the baseline and I think he could play a bit more aggressively,” said Haas, who thinks highly of the German number one: “He’s a top player, one of the best players in the world.”
