The journeyman baker Alexander Weinhold is the winner of the “Euro Skills” craft competition in Gdansk and can now call himself the best craft baker in Europe. This year twelve bakers from different countries competed against each other in Poland. The 22-year-old from Fürstenfeldbruck, who completed his apprenticeship as a baker in Neuried near Munich, prevailed against his competitors from Denmark and France, among others. Weinhold didn’t initially want to bake bread, but instead trained to become a pastry chef.
